In Interdenominational Commendation Service held in honor of late Dr. Alex Ekwueme , Arch Bishop Chukwuma cried out over the death of Ekwueme and other Igbo leaders like Ojukwu whom he said were the people who could speak for the Igbos.
He pointed out that Igbos must be united and speak with one voice but the question is who among these corrupt politicians can speak for the Igbos? Who is the unifying figure? He alleged that selfishness has eaten deep into Igbo politicians and they do not care about the rate of hunger ravaging the people.
Bishop Chukwuma berated the governors for neglecting their core duties to the people that elected them into power and by so doing make themselves irrelevant while in power. According to him, a time will come when politicians and their sirens will be blocked by the masses if they fail to embrace their needs as promised during campaigns.
The Bishop advised Politicians who are above 65 years to retire and allow the young brains to rise to leadership. According to him, the leadership of this nation does not need an analogue brain; it needs a new brain that is capable to cope with the challenges facing the people.
