The leader of the Nigerian Islamist terrorist group called Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, denied on a filming circulated here today that he is injured, as unofficial sources said here earlier this week.
The day before yesterday, eritvnews said that Nigerian Air Force fighters attacked the Islamist terror group base in the village of Balla (east) and wounded Shekau.
The Nigerian military command never confirmed the report, according to which Abba Mustapha, the second of Shekau, who headed Boko Haram since the death of Mohamed Yusuf, the group's founder, at war with the central authorities and who proposes to create a Caliphate in this vast African oil-producing country, was killed.
'Shekau is alive, his caliphate lives,' says the Islamist leader in a 14-minute Internet upload in which he appears flanked by two hooded followers armed with assault rifles.
Another of Boko Haram's chiefs, Abubakar Gashua, whose name is Abu Aisha, had also perished in the operation, according to the report, which quoted members of a pro-government militia that supports the Army in its operations against the Islamists.
On at least four occasions since 2013, Shekau has been found dead or severely wounded in attacks by Nigerian government forces, but he has always reappeared, he reminded himself.
