Governor Ortom Requests for a 12 Days Leave

The governor of one of the most troubled states in the failed contraption called Nigeria has requested for a 12 days leave.

Having faced one of the worst years in his life, where the Islamic Jihadist group, the Fulani Herdsmen welcomed him into the New Year with the mass murder of 73 people, The Governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom after more than 3 months of sleepless turbulent months in Benue state, wants to proceed on 12-day working leave and his deputy Abounu will take charge in his absence.

Ortom had to face the situation from the 1st day of the year where he was forced to bury 73 people in a day with thousands of Benue people being forced to find a settlement in the Internally Displaced Persons camps like those living in war zones.

The school management authorities had announced in January that more than 10,000 pupils were already out of school and primary school had to be used as Internally Displaced Persons camps.

Since January up until now there is hardly a day in Benue state without the report of Fulani Herdsmen attack and without the quick response from Abuja, governor Ortom had told newsmen that he hardly slept at night since the Fulani Herdsmen attack began.

However, it did not appear as a surprise that the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, is set to proceed on a twelve-day working leave with effect from April 12.  The leave which is part of the Governor’s annual leave will terminate on the 27th of April.

During the period of the working leave, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu will act as the Governor. This is in line with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This is according to a letter titled, “Notification of intention to proceed on 12-working days leave” dated 4th April and signed by the Governor.
The letter added thus,” I am confident that the Benue State House of Assembly shall accord the Deputy Governor every support and cooperation within the period as it has always accorded me”.
